Our Guest of the Month

Loreto Msogari Survivors Reunion at Lake Nakuru

It was a joyful moment in equal measure for the Loreto Convent Msongari girls who survived the ill-fated accident as they were brought together for a reunion in style by The Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi alias Mike Sonko in Lake Nakuru Lodge. The girls were overwhelmed with emotions and could barely hide their joyful tears as they recapped their moments in school and especially when remembering their fellow pupils who passed on during their exciting tour turned tearful and sad.

The girls who were accompanied by their parents and siblings had a good time which included a Game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. They planted a tree to mark Their New Life they acquired after surviving the accident which tragically, two pupils lost their lives and scores of others were badly injured. Specifically six pupils underwent arm amputations, including one girl who is a double amputee, some lost fingers and several others sustained severe facial injuries, including one child who lost an eye.

The short ceremony was emotional as Salim Omondi a staff of Lake Nakuru Lodge dedicated and recited a poem for the girls. Later on the girls were flown back to Nairobi and hopefully they will continue in the same spirit of togetherness that they pledged as they planted an indigenous Mukeu tree.

The Flamingos are back at our Lake Nakuru National Park

This time of the year, the famous Lake Nakuru Flamingo┬┤s came back: The lake's abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously line the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and white rhinos have also been introduced.
