Lake Nakuru ranked among world’s most beautiful destinations

Kenya’s Lake Nakuru has been ranked among the world’s most colorful destinations by the National Geographic.

In its latest review released on Thursday, the globally- renowned organisation that reviews and recommends the world’s best trip and adventure destinations rated Lake Nakuru as the second best after Christmas Island in Australia.

“In the heart of the Kenyan Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru hosts one of the greatest bird spectacles on the planet as hundreds of thousands of greater and lesser pink flamingos flock, in blankets of pink, to the water’s edge to feed on the lake’s algae”, National geographic says on its website.

“Pops of colour worth travelling for,” it states.

Other places which were rated among the top ten ‘Colourful Scenes’ by the website include Mallory Square, Key West, Florida; The Lubéron, France; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada; Erg Chebbi Dunes, Morocco; Grand Prismatic Spring, Wyoming; Caño Cristales, Colombia; Hitsujiyama Park, Japan; Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland.

National Geographic, globally known for advocating for the welfare of the environment since 1888 is currently one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world. Its interests include geography, archaeology and natural science and the promotion of environmental and historical conservation.
